Suspension Performance Tuning using Multibody Simulation Software
- 30/50000 Students
- Course
- 12 Lessons /9 Quizes
The RACE Software team has designed this course specifically for professionals and students looking to improve their chassis and suspension systems knowledge and what it takes to conceptualise, design and engineer an optimal suspension system. Getting to grips with the modules and exercises covered in this course sets up the user perfectly to tune and optimise automotive suspensions.
The course comes with one FREE month of the Standard Software Level.
Upon successful course completion you shall receive a sharable certificate of achievement. (You can add it to your CV, LinkedIn, Facebook profile and share publicly)
What you will learn
You will learn the basics of suspension performance tuning (kinematics and compliance) through a mix of theory and hands-on exercises using suspension multibody simulation software.
Requirements
An internet connection
A web browser (no software installation required)
Basic knowledge of physics (forces and moments)
Basic knowledge of maths (geometry and 3D coordinates)
Description
The RACE Software team has designed this course specifically for professionals and students looking to expand their chassis and suspension systems knowledge and to learn what it takes to conceptualise, design and engineer an optimal suspension system.
The course comes with one months free access to RACE Software, a cloud based suspension multibody simulation software. The course has a mix of theory and practical hands on tuning exercises using RACE Software.
The course teaches how to setup and tune Suspension Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) used in the automotive and motorsport industries. It takes the user through concepts such as brake steer, bump camber, camber compliance and more. The structure of the course lessons is as shown below.
Course Lesson Structure:
1. Introduction to the suspension metric
2. How to tune the metric
3. Hands on tuning exercise (tune it yourself)
4. Further examples/suggested tasks
5. Question/challenge
The course has 10 lessons including a final tuning challenge which requires the application of the knowledge learned during the course.
Who this course is for
Automotive and Motorsport students and professionals looking to learn the basics of suspension performance (kinematics and compliance) tuning.
Anyone with an interest in suspension performance tuning or in suspension design and development.
Anyone with an interest in multibody simulation applied to suspension design.
RACE Software
RACE software is a cloud based multibody simulation software for the analysis of suspension performance. RACE Software runs a suspension kinematics and compliance analysis. Kinematics and compliance is a suspension analysis technique which is widely used in both passenger vehicle development and motorsport.
In a suspension kinematics and compliance analysis, simplified vertical, roll, cornering, traction and braking loads are applied to the suspension system and the response of the system to each input type is recorded. The simplified inputs allow the force-response interactions of the suspension system to be understood and ultimately tuned.
The first lesson and the welcoming e-mail takes you through the structure of the course and contains all the instructions to use the RACE Software simulation dashboard.
